North Woods Trail Reapers
The trail system on 400 north received about 8" of snow this week with more to come. Our drivers encountered a few wet ditches this week and are continuing selective trail grooming due to safety reasons. The groomer sunk in a wet ditch on county hwy. 35 this week and we needed a skid steer to get it out. However we have made some progress in some areas of 400 where a few swamps have frozen up.
1/14/2020 400 North to the Two Inlet Trails and Pike Lake Trail were groomed to the E. Elbow Lake Rd. We are still holding off on the Little Bemidji Trail due to a very wet swamp. The trail conditions on 400 North are excellent with a snow pack of 12" plus. Snowmobile riders are reporting very good trail conditions in this area.
1/15/2020 200 & 300 loop were groomed and cleared from down trees. The Rat Lake trail, Mary Yellowhead trail and Tulaby Lake trail were all groomed and conditions are improving every time we get out. There are a few wet lakes on this loop and I recommend caution when crossing these lakes. Snow pack in this area is 12" plus.
1/12/2020 400 South through S. Green Water trail is open and we groomed it going south to Island Lake. The swamps in this area froze real hard over the last week. We will groom this area a little extra over the next week. The sleds that passed through the Green Water trail over the last month roughed them up where we didn't groom. The 400 South trail from Island Lake to Height of Land was groomed however there is still a wet swamp between 400th AVE. (Jahnke Rd.) & 410th AVE. we are not grooming. We went through this area on a Polaris Ranger with tracks this week to clear down trees and found the swamps not froze enough to support the groomer. We continued to Cotton Lake (Hanson Lake Trail) and groomed this area nicely!
We'll be grooming to Wolf Lake 1/20/20 & 1/21/20
The snow conditions on our trail system are the best it's been in years for the month of Jan.
If own a snowmobile and are not out enjoying these conditions in northern Minnesota you are missing out!
Trail Safety is Everyone's Responsibility!
· January 12 · Brandy Lake Trail, Hwy 10 west of DL and Dunton Locks area were groomed on Thursday.
Vergas trail was groomed on Friday.
300 Trail from DL to the end of 205th St by Pickeral Lake was groomed last night.
We are still not grooming most of the 300 trail from 205th St heading north to Hwy 26 due to soft trail conditions in the swamps.
Please stay on the trails. Groomer operators report seeing lots of tracks going off the trails, Venturing off the trail is trespassing in most areas and could result in fines and the loss of use of that trail.
For a snowmobile trail map of Becker County and Detroit Lakes, convenience and lodging stops along the trail and the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce at 700 Summit Avenue. Maps are available after hours in the Chamber’s outside brochure holder.
