Fishing Report
Find out where fish are biting and bait to use in the area fishing report each week. Get Hooked in Detroit Lakes will give you an inside look from fishing guides on which area lakes are best bets for the fish you’re out to catch and the bonus experiences of being out on the water.
This is the area fishing report for Tuesday, June 9, 2026 sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The walleye bite has been more consistent over the past week, with a few nicer fish showing up in the mix. Nightcrawlers have produced the most fish, especially when worked slowly. Bigger walleyes are roaming shallow weeds, while smaller eaters are holding deeper, up to 18′ on most lakes. The largemouth bass and bluegill bite is also very strong right now in and around shallow structure. Docks, weeds, and shoreline cover have all been worth checking. Natural-colored smaller plastics have worked very well, especially with a slower, more subtle presentation. The pike bite remains strong and has been the most consistent bite this season. You will find smaller males in 9′-12′ of water throughout the day, and they will bite on almost anything they see. Larger females can be found deeper in the water column, especially near nearby breaks and deeper weed edges. Good luck out there!
