Fishing Report
Find out where fish are biting and bait to use in the area fishing report each week. Get Hooked in Detroit Lakes will give you an inside look from fishing guides on which area lakes are best bets for the fish you’re out to catch and the bonus experiences of being out on the water.
This is the area fishing report for Tuesday, March 4, 2025, sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Doesn’t it feel good to finally get your permanent house off the ice? I’ll be the first to admit that, while it has been an excellent ice fishing season, I am relieved to finally have all of my houses back in storage! That said, fishing is far from over. For those who still have the itch, the cold nights will help maintain solid ice for the foreseeable future, and some of the best panfishing of the year will unfold over the coming weeks. Crappies and ‘gills can still be found in their mid-winter hangouts but they will start moving shallower over the next few weeks toward their spawning grounds. Wax worms and crappie minnows on tungsten jigs and small spoons will continue to produce results. Continue to be vigilant and stay safe out there. Until next week, good luck fishing!
