Dick Beardsley Races- Sept 12th

Get ready for an unforgettable race weekend at the 2026 Dick Beardsley Races as they return to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on Saturday, September 12.
Kick off the fun on Friday evening with packet pickup from 5:00–8:00 pm at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center (DLCCC), then fuel up for race day at the 6:00 pm pasta feed with Dick Beardsley himself. Race headquarters are located at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center (DLCCC), 826 Summit Avenue.
On race morning, the excitement begins at 8:00 am with the half marathon, 10K, and 5K, followed by the youth run at 11:00 am. Enjoy a scenic course lined with enthusiastic spectators, upbeat music, and water stations to keep you energized from start to finish.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply soaking in the race-day atmosphere, the Dick Beardsley Races promise a memorable experience for runners of all ages and abilities!

The Dick Beardsley Races started in 1996 to honor resident Dick Beardsley and his accomplishments. Some of Beardsley’s records include a two-time Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier, two-time champion of Grandma’s Marathon and course record holder for 33 years at 2:09:37, London Marathon Champion, second-place finish at 2:08:53 in the Duel in the Sun with Alberto Salazar (2:08:51) in the Boston Marathon.
He was inducted into multiple Running Halls of Fame including Minnesota Track and Field Hall of Fame, the Running Event Hall of Fame & Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and the National Distance Running Hall of Fame. The Guinness Book of World Records recognized Beardsley as the only man to have run 13 consecutive personal bests in the marathon.
Beardsley has been a farmer, is an author, a fishing guide and a motivational speaker.
