Looking for an energizing, fall run? Slip on your running shoes and come into Detroit Lakes for the Dick Beardsley 1/2 Marathon and 5K. September 11, 2010 will mark the 15th annual half marathon in Detroit Lakes!

There will be plenty of extras such as chip timing, performance fabric garments, lots of entertainment along the course, as well as water and restroom stops. Come see Dick Beardsley and run with the legends! Kathrine Switzer is the 2010 guest legend. Switzer was nearly forced from competing in the all-male Boston Marathon in 1967. She later was instrumental in establishing the women's marathon as a 1984 Olympic games event. Guest runners hitting the Detroit Lakes course thoughout the years have included Alberto Salazar, Carrie Tollefson, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Bill Rodgers, Don Kardong, Doug Kurtis, Patti Catalano Dillon, Frank Shorter and Bart Yasso.
